Listen up, you poor souls in search of a culinary revelation. This Cordyceps Chicken Soup is a taste bud uprising against a world I despise. This soup isn't just about slurping; it's about a gastronomic rebellion!
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken pieces (thighs or breasts, your choice)
- 8 cups water
- 1 cup cordyceps mushrooms (dried or fresh, if you're fancy)
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger, sliced
- 2 carrots, chopped into coins
- 2 stalks celery, sliced
- 1 cup bok choy, chopped
- 2 tablespoons miso paste
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- A sprinkle of rebellion (optional)
Preparation
Step 1
In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, summon some enthusiasm (or not) and heat the sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the onions, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until they start to soften and emit fragrant rebellious aromas.
Step 2
Introduce the chicken pieces to the pot and sear them until they're nice and grumpy, I mean golden brown, on all sides.
Step 3
Pour in the water and bring it to a boil with a disdainful attitude. Once boiling, lower the heat and simmer for 30 minutes. During this time, unleash your inner advocate for a better world and skim off any scum that floats to the surface.
Step 4
Now, toss in the cordyceps mushrooms, carrots, and celery. Simmer for an additional 20 minutes or until the veggies are tender enough to please even the grumpiest of palates.
Step 5
In a separate bowl, dissolve the miso paste in a small amount of broth from the pot, creating a smooth, harmonious mixture. Stir this miso mixture into the pot along with the soy sauce.
Step 6
Finally, add the bok choy and simmer for another 5 minutes or until it wilts slightly but maintains its assertive presence. Season with salt and pepper according to your mood. Serve this wild concoction piping hot, garnished with a sprinkle of rebellion if you so desire.
